Stone County, Mississippi Car Accident Leaves One Person Dead, One Injured

CarCollision

When setting off on the road for a relaxing day out, one rarely thinks about the potential for tragedy, injury, and death on the road. This past week, such gruesome thoughts were likely far from being on the brain as hundreds of couples from across Mississippi traveled to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for America’s self-proclaimed largest block party and antique car show. Indeed, the Cruisin’ the Coast block party and car show drew crowds from all over Mississippi and even from other states seeking to enjoy the outdoor festivities and show-and-tell their favorite cars. Unfortunately, one couple on their way to the event suffered a terrible fate when they were involved in a serious and deadly car accident.

According to local news reports, the deadly accident occurred in Stone County, Mississippi, on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 5, around 1:30pm. A married couple was driving a 1957 Chevy Bel Air antique car on their way to Cruisin’ the Coast block party, when a Ford F-150 truck crossed the highway the couple was traveling on southbound, and the two vehicles collided. The collision caused both vehicles to fly off of the road. The female occupant of the Chevy Bel Air, a 67-year-old Terry, Mississippi resident, passed away at the scene. Her husband, the male occupant of the Chevy Bel Air, was rushed to the hospital. The terrible car accident is still under investigation.

Available Remedies in Personal Injury Cases

As the horrific car accident in Mississippi demonstrates, car accidents can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anyone. Even a joy ride to a car show can turn into a deadly car accident. Fortunately, under Mississippi laws, when car accidents occur, there may be remedies available to the victims who are not at fault. Under Mississippi laws, if a driver is negligent in causing a car accident, and others are injured as a result of that negligence, injured victims may be entitled to compensation for things like pain and suffering, lost wages, and medical expenses. Similarly, if a driver is at fault for an accident that results in the death of another person, the deceased victim’s family may be able to recover money compensation under Mississippi wrongful death laws. Thus, simply put, if an accident that results in injury or death is caused by the negligence of another person, the victims of the accident, or their families, may seek justice under Mississippi laws.
