1 Dead in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana Car Crash – Learn All About Your Rights Under Louisiana’s Personal Injury Laws and How to Recover Money Compensation for Your Car Accident Injuries

AccInjury

One woman was killed in a terrible and fatal car accident in St. Tammany Parish earlier this week, and her death raises questions about the rights of car accident victims under Louisiana personal injury laws. According to local news reports, on Monday, June 2, 20-year-old Madison Boone of Mandeville was driving her car in a westbound direction on Louisiana’s Highway 36 in a 2004 Buick LeSabre when the driver of a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe collided with her car head-on. Reports indicate that the driver of the 2017 Hyundai was driving eastbound on Highway 36 when they “reportedly crossed the centerline and struck the Buick head-on.” Unfortunately, Boone was not restrained when her car was hit, and she suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. She was reported to have been transported to a local hospital in the area, but she, sadly, succumbed to her injuries there and she passed away. The driver of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe was not identified as of the most recent reports covering the accident. The driver of the 2017 Santa Fe also suffered injuries, and was taken to the hospital. So far, that driver was issued a citation for driving on the right side of the road, but no other charges were filed or citations as of the date of the most recent reports. The crash remains under investigation, according to WGNO.

Louisiana Personal Injury Laws and Your Right to Compensation

In light of the fatal car accident that took the young woman’s life in St. Tammany Parish, it is important for Louisiana drivers and families to know about their rights under Louisiana personal injury laws. Under Louisiana personal injury laws, victims of serious car accidents may file a lawsuit in court for money compensation against the negligent or otherwise at-fault drivers that injure them. Some Louisiana car accident victims may wonder if they still have any rights to compensation if they were not wearing a seatbelt at the time the car accident occurred. The answer is that under Louisiana’s pure comparative fault system, even though a car accident victim was not restrained when their car accident occurred, they may be entitled to money compensation. These types of cases can be complex, so it is best to speak with an experienced Louisiana personal injury lawyer about your case as soon as possible after a serious car accident occurs.

No person should have to fight for compensation in their car accident lawsuit alone.
